Overlooking the natural reserve, the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro brings elegance and comfort to your stay in Rio, with a spa retreat for relax and rejuvenation, inspired gastronomic options and daily activities. Step out the resort and explore Barra da Tijuca! One of the most exclusive areas in Rio, famous for paradisiac beaches and urban attractions.

The Itinerary

Day 1

Depart your home airport (ATL, DTW or IAH) and head out on an overnight flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Day 2

Arrive safely to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

After clearing passport control, meet your private driver and head off to the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro, where you will be spending 5 nights in an Ocean View, Club Level Room.  Get settled in and be ready to explore the fun + culture of Rio.

Day 3

After grabbing breakfast (included)  you will head out on an 8 hour city tour.  During the tour, you will visit Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Maracana Soccer Field and enjoy a BBQ lunch. Don’t worry, these activities are already included in the price!

Day 4

Today you will spend the morning at leisure and then head out in the afternoon for a Brazilian cooking class.  Learn how to make traditional dishes and enjoy them for an authentic lunch!

Day 5

After breakfast, choose to spend your day at leisure.  Lay by the pool/beach, book an appointment at the hotel spa,  or even visit some of the nice boutiques.  This evening we will meet up for a sunset sailing cruise.

Day 6

After breakfast you will spend your day at leisure.  This evening, we will meet up for a 50th birthday dinner for Dashaun.

Day 7

This is your last day in Rio.  After breakfast, checkout and do your last minute exploring of Brazil.  Your private driver will meet you in the hotel lobby 3 hours before your flight back home, so that you arrive at the airport in time to move through passport control and get settled into your flight home.  You will arrive back home the morning of June 14th.

Dashaun’s Surprise 50th birthday packages includes:

  • Roundtrip flights from Atlanta, Detroit or Houston to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  • Arrival transfer from airport (GIG) to Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro
  • 5 nights at  Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro in an Ocean View, Club Access Room, with 1 King or 2 Twin beds on request
  • Access to daily breakfast via Club Access
  • 8 hour city tour with BBQ dinner
  • Sunset sailing experience with snacks and drinks
  • Cooking class
  • Birthday dinner (meal and soft drinks included, beverages extra)
  • Departure transfer from Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro to the airport
  • Travel insurance, allowing you to cancel for any reason up to 72 hours prior to traveling to receive a full refund, less the cost of insurance and the Cultured Vacations cancellation fee.

This travel package does not include:

  • Daily resort fee, paid directly to the resort.  Estimated fee is $20/room/night.
  • Passport Fees
  • Immunizations needed to travel to Brazil
  • Non-specified meals that aren’t listed in the itinerary
  • Gratuities to service staff, tour guides and drivers
  • Transportation outside of what’s listed in the itinerary

Passports Are Needed for This Experience

Passports must be valid through December 30, 2021 to be able to travel.

You will also need TWO blank pages in your passport to travel.

Payment Plans & Changes & Cancellations

Payment Plan

  • $500/person due August 15, 2020
  • Payment #2: $500/person due by October 15, 2020
  • Payment #3: $500/person due by December 15, 2020
  • Payment #4: $500/person due by February 15, 2021
  • Final Payment: April 15, 2021

*There is an additional resort fee that guests will need to pay directly to the resort upon check-out.  The fee is $20/room/night + tax.

When you (and your roommate/s) are ready to make your deposits, please click the link below and complete the deposit form.  If you are rooming with someone, both deposits will have to be paid in order to secure your reservation.  Once the deposit has been made, a payment schedule will be automatically generated for the remaining months until final payment.  If you fall more than two months behind in payment, your reservation is subject to cancellation.

Change & Cancellation Policy

Please note, once deposits are made, you are locked in with roommates. There is a $200/reservation Cultured Vacations change fee for any changes (i.e. changing room type, changing names on the reservation, changing flights)  + any additional fees that the travel suppliers implement.

All payments are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

Travel protection is included in your package and allows you to cancel your trip for any reason, as long as it’s 72 hours prior to travel.

We understand things happen sometimes and your trip is no longer feasible.  If you need to cancel your reservation, please submit your cancellation in writing via email to jenn@culturedvacations.com.  There is a $149/person Cultured Vacations cancellation fee that will be charged to start the cancellation process.  If you have insurance, all funds paid, less the cost of the insurance and the cancellation fee will be reimbursed to you.  Please keep in mind, if you are in a roommate situation and you are cancelling, the remaining roommate will then move to single occupancy rate and will be required to pay the current single occupancy rate at the time the change is made (which is more money).
